How Do Water Heaters Work?
Water heaters rely on fuel, whether by gas or electricity, to heat water within a storage tank. When ignited, the fuel begins to heat the tank. From here, cold water enters the bottom of the tank in what is called a “dip tube.” The water in the tank will begin to rise, with the hot water on top, for heat always rises faster than cold water. Once it reached the top, there is a “heat-out pipe” which allows the hot water to exit and be distributed throughout a home.
